It’s my birthday today. Something a friend said a few years back keeps ringing in…
Turning back the calendar 4 years. Same day. The clock struck 12. calls from my friends, family, relatives started pouring in. I was in a hostel that time with my room-mate, who was also my very close pal.
She started planning the day. We’ll go here, do this, eat that, buy this, wear that…
It was a time when I was absorbed in a futile effort to 'act' like a grown up. “Relax! It’s just another day,” I said.
“Don’t ever say that. This day is yours and is very special. You deserve to treat yourself,” she replied back.
Between that bday and this, there has never been a single one where I have not made myself the queen. I take myself out for a lovely meal, pick up a few things I had been eyeing as a gift and love myself endlessly…and smile even more.
Each day is special. And you deserve to be a king/queen everyday. But if in the hustle and bustle of life if you forget to treat yourself like one everyday, do reserve birthdays especially for this.
