Famine, or Our Shortsight

Millions people in the Third World die of hunger every day. Millions more became ill because they do not have enough to eat. Rich countries try to help by sending food, money, blankets and medicine. This help saves thousands of lives, but it is only short-term help. Famine is urgent problem of these days, because there will be 9 billion people on the Earth and most of them will live in the Third World. Rich country spend millions dollars for agriculture research. The scientists genetically modify crops, clone the cattle, give hormones to animals and believe that this is the way how to save world.
As usually, we are very shortsighted. Our comfortable life does not allow to see, what it causes. Look closer at the reason of famine - drought and erosion of soil. Growing of cash crops, as coffee or tobacco takes most part of fertile soil. Monocultures of these crops are artificial ecosystems that does not cooperate with other parts of the nature, therefore the soil under these crops erodes and changes to desert.
People from poor countries do not need and do not use cash crop. It is sold abroad. And I ask : Are coffee and tobacco so needed that we have to destroy lives of millions people on the other side of the world? In poor countries, food is question of life and death. The fertile soil for growing fruit and vegetable for local people is occupied by plantation. In our counties, we spend millions dollars every year for being slim. Other millions dollars are spend for anti-smoking campaign.
Our help for Third World is only little stupid “sorry”. If we really want to help to world, we have to change our lives and thinking.

Yes,it is so true that,on one hand people are suufffering for basic needs,on the other hand rich countries are spending thier money for to reaserch on the other plants,to insrease their army and various other things.They need to interospect of their attitude of spending money towords poor countries.

And I´ve read somewhere that if every European and American cut on their portions of meat, there would be enough crops for people in the third world because now a lot of soil is used for pastures and lot of crop is used for feeding cattle.
we usualy prepare
more food that we really need and people in the poor country has nothing. It is very sad.
