Unmodern modesty

Every day I thanks to God, that my parents have taught me to be modest. It is hard in today consumption way of life. Although I studied ecology and we learned about it, I did not know what does consumption in reality mean. I did not know it until I visit Great Britain.

People in Great Britain earn so much money, that they can afford almost everything they want. Their salary is high and prices of food and clothes very low. Our host does not cook at home, because she buys ready meals in the supermarket. Everybody can wear design clothes and they usually buy every weak something new to wardrobe. If you wear old sweater, you look odd. If you are modest, you are black sheep of society. They earn lot of money and they also spend lot of money. Business has to go on.

One day, my loved Grandmother told me about her wedding: “ We had wedding at the end of war. There was no meat, no sugar, everybody was poor. We had to invite family that hustled with sugar. Thanks them , we could have sweet pasta. It was only menu of our wedding banquet.”
