SEX IN MOVIES – changing trends

Who can forget that visualization in which a saree-clad Sharmila tagore was trying to suppress her eroding emotions, trying to avoid those love-lust eyes of Rajesh khanna performing “ Roop tera mastana “. The artificially created rainy ambience, the catchy & provocative lyrics and the situation of the movie , was enough to call it a high-class erotic stuff. On contrary to that even the total exposure policy today seems to be miniature in comparison to the epic performances of that time. It seems that the cost of living index number has surely gone up and that too by leaps and bounds. By saying this I never mean to say that these days the actresses lack appeal but I surely mean to say that the demand of the public has shown an upward trend in every walk of cinema , be it humor, violence , stunts or the technology. And the definition of sex is no exception.
This is the end result of more and more exposure of people to this ultimate entity called ‘SEX’. Three decades back when even the television was far from the approach of the common man, the people used to satisfy their curiosity through NAUNTANKIES & whatever stuff available in the movies. Now we try and compare some of the oldies to the present generation sex symbols. Mumtaz with Mallika sherawat, Zeenat Amman with Bipasha Basu, Bindu & Helen with so many item girls of today’s era etc. the comparisons can be made with their respective SQ’s (sex appeal quotient) . What I mean to pin-point is that there is no comparison between all these except for the taste of the people who just want these idols of sex only . But earlier the people simultaneously used to respect the appeal which Madhu Bala, Nargis and Sadhna had shown without crossing the boundaries. HATS OFF TO THEM.
But if somebody tries to repeat that , his work is called as “OUT OF SKIN” . He becomes a subject matter of laughter and becomes a toast of the critics. That’s what Sanjay Leela Bhansali tried to do in “SAANWARIYA” through Sonam Kapoor but he succumbed. The life is getting fast. Everybody is in haste to finish off the assignment and move on . But sex requires perseverance. What the emotional lip-lock sequence of AAmir with Pooja Bedi can do , can’t be done with even a XX entertainment in bed.
