One of best authors ever, Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, knows exactly how to show India in its true self.

Most of her books are based on Indian Women living abroad; but not even once did I feel that the element of Indianess was missing from her books.

The Mistress of Spices is the best book out of the lot and it has been made into a movie with actress Aishwariya Rai in the lead.

Some will feel that the movie is better than the book but those who love to read will realise the true feelings of the main characters only whilst reading the book.

Queen of Dreams is equally excellent and speaks about the power of dreams in a person's life. This book reflects alot on the ability of reading one's dreams or foreseeing a certain event, and that is what makes the book interesting. It teaches one to accept life as it is and believe in the unthinkable.

Arranged Marriage is a collection of short stories on Indian women and their lives abroad. The book makes you realize the plight of certain women who walk in to an unknown land and learn its ways because they are now married and have to adjust to the society in which their husband lives.

The two most entertaining books are The Conch Bearer and The Mirror of Fire (It is a series) and Dreaming; these are children's books but the story is like an addiction; it pulls you into its world and absorbs you totally and you never want to come out.

Its the Indian version of harry potter.

Her other books include - The unknown Errors of Our Lives and The Palace of Illusions.
I have not yet read these books; but i can assure you once i get my hands on them; i'll never want to put them back down.
