Impact of Tourisim on Environment.
Tourism is a kind of travel based recreation which provides people with not only a change of place but also a break from the monotony of daily life. No doubt it is a great source of revenue for the state and also it reaps handsome benefits but sadly its undesirable side effects have raised fresh problems. Seriously tourism can cause grave environmental disruption. It was evidently depicted from my visit to a wild life sanctuary near the city of Chandigarh, namely Chatt Bir Zoo and the wild life safari.
I along with my family visited the wild life park and needless to say that there was a lot of traffic congestion on the small lanes which led to the entrance. The visitors, mostly school children and family groups ate and drank to their pleasure and will while recreating themselves at the rare sights of animals, leading to environmental and health hazards. Of the greatest concern which I thought was the immense damage they were causing to the environment. People from all walks of life thronged the place for a vivid collection of wild life animals. The animals mostly caged were not only ill treated by the visitors by jeers and jests but throwing of food remains littered the whole place with plastic waste and left over meals.
In the safari, the Tourists vans and the visitors feet destroyed the ground vegetation, thus affecting the feeding habits of the animals and the landscape as well. Many people threw food items and other eatables which give the place a dirty look.
