The story of Christopher Johnson McCandless
In April 1992 a young man named Christopher Johnson McCandless decided to invent a new life for himself. McCandless gave his life saving of 25,000 dollars to charity abandoned his car and walked alone into the Alaskan Wilderness. Four months latter his decomposed body was found by a moose hunter.
McCandless was not a fool he graduated with honors from Emory University. He read Jack London, Wallace Stegner and Leo Tolstoy and was deeply moved by their stories of solitude and closeness to nature.
McCandless particularly liked White Fang by Jack London. McCandless read White Fang over and over. Although White Fang is a fictional story McCandless acted as if it was a true life story. Maybe McCandless was mentally ill I don’t know.
The story of Christopher McCandless is written about in a book called Into the wild by Jon Krakauer. I’ve read it and find the story of Christopher McCandless to be fascinating along with being a little sad.
Anyway thanks for reading
