Happy Baisakhi to all

The festival of Baisakhi is celebrated with much pomp and show in the state of Punjab. On 13th of April every year we mark the celebration of harvest season. The festival tatamounts the revelers to go into the high momentum. The vibrant Punjabi folk goes into high spirits with the marking of the rich harvest and there are celebrations all around.

Most of the Gurduwaras of the state are the focal point of the celebrations. They start the ‘akhand path’ which culminates into ‘keertan’ and is followed by the guru ka langar (community kitchen).

The zeal and zest and vigour of the harvest also marks the beginning of the new year for the rural folks. There is rich traditional folk dances and merriment all around and this is carried forth into the New Year ringing in.

Swaying under the clear and azure sky, we have rich harvest of bumper rabbi crop. This rich golden harvest is the reward of a farmer. The sarson beckons all to indulge into the celebrations with the beat of the dhol beats. Perhaps Baisakhi makes everyone to dance to its festivities, which enliven the air with happiness all around, with every one chanting, “Jatta Ayee Baisakhi”.
